The qualification, on the page

Most joiners advertising in Wigan do not state a qualification anywhere. This one does, so it belongs at the top rather than in a bio nobody scrolls to.

Scope

What gets built

First fix, second fix, and the finish work that decides whether a job looks finished.

First fix

Structural carpentry

Studwork, joists, roof timbers, floors and door linings. Everything that gets covered up and has to be right the first time.

Second fix

Finish carpentry

Doors hung, skirting, architrave, staircases and the mouldings that have to match what is already in an older house.

Renovation

Existing buildings

Work into buildings where nothing is square and no two openings are the same size. Measured on site rather than ordered off a plan.

New build

Plot work

Dwellings from frame through to handover, working to programme with the other trades on site.

Why it matters

Rail work is not ordinary work

Getting on a Network Rail job means passing checks a domestic joiner never faces: competence, method, and turning up to somebody else's programme with no room in it.

A homeowner does not know what that means. A main contractor does, which is exactly why it belongs on a page they can find.

Where the work comes from

Currently, almost entirely recommendation and returning clients. That works until the person recommending you says look them up.

Placeholder — needs your photographs

Joinery is judged on the finish and nothing else. Six photographs of completed work, ideally including something on a commercial or rail job, would carry this whole site. Send them and the empty blocks come out.
